REVIEWS INFUSED Niall Quinn Acoustic / Folk / Country Unsigned Under Same Sky - Now Available Pardon Me Angel Town begins with strong harmonica and acoustic guitar strumming, before the vocals kick in. The acoustic guitar strikes out quite a hypnotic rhythm which gets your head moving along, the bursts of harmonica throughout the song provide an added dimension. The overall feel of the song reminds me of the likes of Ryan Adams, David Gray and Damien Rice. However, vocally Niall sounds like himself, not others and has an ability to sing a song as if he’s telling you a story. The rhythm to This Might Sound A Bit Funny steps the tempo up a little bit, as the acoustic guitar's pace is excellent throughout. The vocals are bone chillingly powerful as they break in; also the backing vocals peppering the song reinforce those points really well. The rhythm, it has to be said, is infectious. The title track of the album Under Same Sky brings the harmonica back into play. However it is the vocals that are very much at the forefront of this track. The imagery created by the story being told paints a thousand pictures in your mind. My favourite line of the song is 'my life changes direction with every record I listen to' which I’m sure is true of anyone who loves music. There is a haunting quality to the vocals that harmonizes so well with the tone of the guitar and harmonica is scarily good.  CONT. |
