Singer Niall has so much to say

It was the rush of euphoria and a humbling reaction from the audience when Niall Quinn performed his songs for the first time that found him hooked on performing. He has since featured on BBC Kent Radio and BBC Norfolk radio. He said: "My first gig was at a folk evening in Cambridge. It was in a pub called The Portland Arms, I was studying nearby. I was book-ended by two aging folkies who were murdering Neil young songs - I wasn't sure that was the scene I wanted to stay in." He has since gone on to perform at The Barfly, 12 Bar Club, The Rock Garden, The Halfmoon and many Bromley venues including The Clink Bar and O'Neill's. Describing his music as "lyrically charged storytelling", he claims to have a mix of folk and country flair. Niall's musical influences range from Tom Waits to Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones to poet Charles Bukowski. He said: "Fans often comment on the lyrics in the songs so, I guess, I appeal to people of my generation eager to listen to what a singer has to say." Of his female following Niall smiles "Yeah I guess I have... perhaps it's all those tragic love songs." Niall's songwriting began simply as poems and it was only a few years ago that he began putting them to music.
